My Laptop won't connect to Wifi, but will connect with an Ethernet cord

My laptop is not detecting any wifi networks but connects to the Ethernet cable, I went on Device Manager and there is a yellow (!) on Network Controller once I tried to Update the Driver it didn't let me. Any help please :)

Cobalt006 thanks, mine was F6 :)

learninmypc Thanks for you help :) I figured out the problem, I think mine was a little different to yours. I'd accidently deleted a program or something that registered the Wifi... I don't even know. Anyway, I restored my computer to an earlier time, before the Wifi wasn't working, and now it's all back online.

How did you restore your computer to an earlier time? I have the same problem :/

Go to (In windows 7) control panel, double click "network and sharing center". Then click change adapter setting from left side of the window. Find your wireless network connection. then right click of the icon select and click the properties. then double click on "Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)". select the "Obtain an IP address automatically", then click OK->OK->OK.

Thank you. I was having the same problem this morning and this fixed it.

You might need to buy a USB wifI , enter your username/password & you're good to go.

The desktop may not even have a wireless card. Mine didn't and I put one in a couple of years ago.

I just noticed that it's a laptop so it is certain to have wireless. An Ethernet cable must be one of the cheapest and most readily available accessories. Buy or beg one because they come in handy at times like this.

I had the same problem, and found it was my own actions that had caused the problem, on the front of my computer there is a switch that I stupidly thought was to close the screen, it is the NETWORK switch and switches off the Wifi, check all the swiches on your computer and check that the Wifi indicator light comes on.
Good Luck.
