Need a hand setting up Belkin Wireless USB card, please!

I have been trying in vain to install a Belkin "wireless G USB Network Adapter" onto a Windows XP computer, but the whole shaboodle is so riddled with errors and pitfalls that I'm having a real problem. When I install the device it does not connect to the network, no matter how much I restart it, the connection manager constantly attempts to open and gives me error messages of its own accord, and I'm just not quite sure what I'm supposed to be doing. If anyone can tell me how to fix this, then you will have my eternal gratitude. Thank you!

Are you using just the driver or the driver and the connection software? XP does not like any other software programs to manage its wireless connections. Try just loading the driver for the USB... see if that helps out.
