I have a Jetflash USB 2.0 flash drive. The drive was working fine.
As ususal once I stopped the USB drive (thro' Safely Remove...) and I tried connecting the USB drive again.
Windows XP recognizes this drive as "Generic USB Flash Drive" and it is displayed in Windows explorer as F: drive.
When I try to access this drive it says "Please insert a disk/ media"
I check it thro' Computer Managerment -> Disk Management, the drive is displayed but it says "No Media"

Please help. I need the data from the USB drive.

Thanks in Advance.

Formating it may cure the problem using disk management. If not, contact the manufacturer and ask their advice.

Hope that helps. Rik.

Re: Problem with USB flash drive-"Write Protected"
There is a simple solution for thisin the case of windows.
Just do a "regedit" for StorageDevicePolicies key. . Get
into the Registry - Press Start ->Run, enter regedit, press Ok
Click on My Computer. Then press File Export, give some file
name to backup the registry. Just in caseyou ever need to rollback.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/StorageDevicePolicies .
In the right pane select "writeprotect" . RESET the value to '0' Repeat
the same for ControlSet001 and ControlSet002 incase they exist. Now plug
in your USB drives and it should work. Else just reboot the machine and try

I have a problem with my 2GB flash drive. Whenever I insert it in the USB port all proper messages appear in the balloon at the lower right side of the window, the removable drive even appears in My Computer, but when i try to open it, it shows an error message stating "Please insert a disk into drive G:". I have tried it on other computers with xp and vista and the same problem appears. It even doesnt allow me to format it. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?
