What the law says is all that matters.
That is what the politicians want you to think. When what really matters is what the people want. That will always be the case until the constitution is burned. Which is something else the politicians want.

Of course. But that is another topic. The question is... does the law, as it stands, affect people it was not "intended" to? Yes. I am forced to follow it as written until the people get it changed.
It certainly matters who's writing those laws and they aren't always right.
Doesn't matter if they are "right". The law still applies.

That's why the process of writing laws are supposed to be slow, lumbering , and deliberative with public input. Laws are generally difficult to change once enacted. We now have a fast track law-making system along with an uninformed public until the day the law runs smack over you and now you're informed.
