New computer, monitor not working

I just bought a new computer and the monitor doesn't work on it, does it need to be plugged into the graphics card? the graphics card doesn't have a VGA cable (radeon 5750) it just has two DVI ports, my monitor does not have a dvi port nor do i have the cable.

hi, yes it will need to be plugged in to the graphics card otherwise there is no way for the video signal to reach the monitor.

you may need a different cable or a converter plug.

I thought that might be the case, well on my older computer i used to be able to use the motherboards vga port, I just wanted someone to confirm it.
