New PC won't turn on?

I just bought a barebone kit and put it all together. Plugged it in tried to start it up and all that happened was the case fan and cpu fan spun for a brief moment then stopped.
What could be wrong?

Ah it does appear to be shorting out because the motherboard is sitting on the metal case I lifted it up and it powered on fully. But how do I mount it on the case so it doesn't touch o-o Doesn't appear to having anything on th e bottom to prevent this.

Now all the fans are turning on and staying on but nothing seems to go to the monitor

use stand-offs. IF you shorted the mobo, there is a good chance it is fried.

Always assemble on a piece of cardboard.
