New Windows 11 build made available to Insiders fixes AMD performance issues

I normally hate the MS bashing that goes on but the Windows 11 launch has been an omnishambles, and the arbitrary CPU version gate is a complete nonsense with no technical reason behind it.

If you think this fairly successful launch is an omnishambles, you’re either incredibly young (too young to even remember W8 let alone Vista) or incredibly ignorant.

TPM requirements are licensing + security reasons. Even the cutoff for these is still far more generous than plenty of older Windows versions were, and they’re fairly easy to workaround too.

1) what are you on about? Intel has a pretty restrictive list too. Anything before 8th gen is also dead.

2) W11 won’t be “extra optimised” for Intel. Given that most recent PC sales were AMD, this would be dumb for MS to do.

3) Yes, MS, who is a direct hardware partner with AMD for the Xbox and therefore needs their core OS and kernel to work well with them, is out to hamper AMD 🤦🏻‍♂️

You couldn’t make this nonsense up, honestly.
If that is your point of view, I respect it, though I disagree.

And if W11 in fact would be thought for AMD, why on the first batches everything goes well on Intel (including with the new Intel Thread Director on plan) and not with AMD? Microsoft has THOUSANDS of workers and collected data from millions of PC which from these many had AMD; then why AMD has issues? The XBOX OS is based on W10/W11 Core but has another team optimizing it for the XBOX hardware. The general W10/W11 is optimized for the biggest market share === Intel.

SteamOS will be optimized for AMD's Van Gogh edition.

If the W11 launch wasn't a marketing ($$$) game behind the scenes, they would launch a W11 light 64-bit (any CPU 64-bit dual core, no TPM) and all other versions requiring TPM 2.0 and 2016 CPUs onwards.

Example: even many Pentium Gold on Surface Go 2 (which is basically the same as on Go) are EXTREMELY slow and are allowed; 4 GB RAM is allowed?! (And MS still uses it in 2021........)

So if people has a desktop 2016 chip with TPM 2.0 and 16 GB RAM doesn't meet the requirements; but a paltry Surface Go 2 Pentium Gold 4 GB RAM meets? 🤣🤣🤣

Even if they provide a fix you cannot trust microsoft doing it properly for full amd potential or just to fix/catch up on the intel performance. looking forward for some cross-platform performance comparison on same hw with this wannabe OS versus linux or mac os

My shi***y Lenovo tablet passed but my expensive Dell Inspiron didn't! Just ridiculous.

If you think talking to people like that is ok you are either incredibly ignorant or incredibly unpleasant - I suspect both.

Windows 11 is built for hybrid CPUs. No need to update to Windows 11 if you are using a regular CPU, atleast not anytime soon.

All for the more reason why I'll stick to Windows 10 for the time being. Besides there's literally no benefits switching to Windows 11 as of this moment.

That's what I am doing on my home PC which is mostly a gaming PC.
I use Windows 11 on my laptop at work, because I don't care about performance on this machine but would like to follow the OS going forward.

So far Windows 11 is "fine" however so is Windows 10, which is pretty much perfected at this point.

Windows 11 (and Windows 10 ) are two of the biggest pieces of maleware on the planet.

Best version of windows ever was Windows XP.

Light, perfect for gaming. Oh and guess what when you shut down a process it didn't turn itself back on later.

You are clueless. However no-one is focing you to use it.
