Nintendo wii and the virutal console

i was wondering do i need a a different controller to play n64 can i use a Nintendo classic controller to play or do i need a a game cube controller iv been told by some 1 i need a game cube controller iv use to have n64 and a i still have a game cube but i changed to xbox360 a while ago and im sick of the RROD so im changing to wii so i can play Zelda again XD

According to my son who is sitting right next to me and has a Wii the two controllers that can be used are the Gamecube and the Wii Classic.
