Hello. Newbie here; pardon if this had been addressed in past. As with most repairs this one started with a faulty HDD. No worry all was backed up. Installed SSD and reinstalled Win7. Problem arose when system tried to connect during Key verification. Nothing seemed to solve failure to connect to internet wireless or hard wire. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions re fresh install of win7. I have the original Home Premium disk and Key. The install seemed to go as described in the MS article. The error message appeared when the system was going out to seek an update. It seems to fail when attempting to go online.
The network adapter was never a problem before.

Hi Sorry If I'm not understanding your issue. I think you're saying you have a problem going on line and you mention network adapter. Use the devise manager and let windows find install the driver! Do you see yellow marks in devise manager? Let us know how things go.
