No One Is Buying AMD Zen 5 CPUs, So What's Going On?

"No One Is Buying AMD Zen 5 CPUs"

Who is the brainless who buy zen 5 ?????? for gaming need gpu card !!!

5700x3d or 5800x3d more than enough

They gave away trillions in free money during covid, what we're experiencing now is a "hangover" from all the free money. What the FED is doing now is taking that money out of circulation. Neither Biden or Trump have any control over the FED.
Governments have control over the underlying factors that guide central bank monetary policy.

This has to be one of the dumbest takes in CPU history...
Actually WHO... is wondering why the non-X3D Ryzen 9000 series isn't selling in high numbers.

Anyone want to tell them..?

Governments have control over the underlying factors that guide central bank monetary policy.

But it still falls on the central bank to be PROactive rather then REactive.

To be clear: Spending money coming out of lockdown to get the economy going again was 100% the correct move. The problem was the Fed was insistent that raising rates wouldn't be necessary, and any and all inflation would be transitory.

Then when the Fed decided to start raising rates, they stopped too soon, because they felt rates were already to high. Then they waited for any justification to lower rates again, leaving rates stuck at just over 5% with higher then ideal inflation, not about to move in either direction for basically a year.

The Fed acted about as poorly as they possibly could through this entire economic process. Again: Spending money getting the economy moving was objectively correct; see how much faster unemployment dropped relative to Obama (where *not* spending more money resulted in a very slow economic recovery). The problem was the Fed was always behind the curve.

There is no need for this stuff at the moment. All these gpus amd cpus offer little relative to their inflated pricing.

AMD has different customer base than Intel/Nvidia. I would say people who buy AMD are more value oriented. Zen5 offers almost nothing, so people see no reason to buy it, simple as that. With Intel/Nvidia, even though they release products that fail, burn your house down and have terrible value, their customers don't care and are lining up to buy the latest, most expensive product.

Right, cause 400 and 450$ for 8 core cpus is what a value oriented customer buys lol. What a load of horseshit.

His point was that AMD customers were value oriented and now that that value is gone, so are the customers. Zen 1, 2 and 3 weren't that long ago. Keep in mind that people are still buying new AM4 CPUs, you can get a great deal on 5700X3D chips.

Anyone considering upgrading to the AM5 platform will be waiting for the 800 series motherboards to release.

Anyone already on the AM5 platform whose priority is gaming will be waiting for the 9x00X3D launch, and aren't interested in the current 9000 series processors.

That leaves only people who have specific needs that are met by the new 9000 series actually buying them right now, so it's not surprising the current uptake is slow.

Zen 3 wasn't value oriented at all though. 299 for the 6core and 449 for the 8 core part was horribly bad value.

The MSRP lasted a few months and now both parts are heavily discounted. Zen2 became a fantastic value at the release of zen 3.

Doesn't matter what you suggest about value.... WHEN u fail to admit/recognize that Zen offers better value than the other brand.

See, everyone (except lemmings) know LGA1700 is dead and ANYONE who buys/builds an iNTEL system right now is NOT getting value. They are literally throwing money away, which is the exact opposite of "value".

AM5 is the only logical choice for Consumers & Gamers.

Playing video games is throwing money away. There is nothing logical about it. So it's pointless to try and make any money spent on gaming practical when it's not. Buying computer parts for gaming has nothing to do with practicality it's about being enthusiastic about a hobby.

As a whole, I believe the demand for PC hardware is contracting. I remembered reading some Trend Force report of late. Barring AI hardware which companies are still throwing money aimlessly, overall demand is weak. Then comes the point that most retail PC buyers are either buying PC for gaming, or can’t be bothered with buying PCs with a next gen product which costs more, but not meaningfully better for their use case. So it’s no surprise. Intel may do better if the hype about performance is real, but I am skeptical that it is meaningfully better then their Raptor Lake chips. The only saving grace is that anyone wanted to buy an Intel processor would likely skip Raptor Lake, and so end up with either the older Alder Lake or Arrow Lake.

The reality is that AMD is fighting themselves by segregating their Gaming CPUs with 3D v-cache. If you are not buying Zen 5, then you are most likely going to buy Zen 4 or Zen 3 anyway, if not a PS5 or an Xbox.

If you look at the sales charts, you see AMD is stomping intel in the desktop DIY segment.

IMO, there's no surprises that Zen 5 is not selling well especially given the large price increases over Zen 4 with a rather trivial performance gain - even if the performance gain is a Windows issue.

What AMD did here is something that Intel has done in the past, and maybe consumers/enthusiasts are sick of being milked.
