Snowden didnt "criticize the government", he was a whistleblower who leaked huge amounts of classified information. What happened to him was absolutely unjust. This doesnt change the fact the US is still FAR preferrable for basic rights VS totalitarian states like China.
No, there are objective measures in which China is inferior. Poor quality infrastructure, a total lack of consumer protections and food safety, and an orwellian government. Anyone who thinks that the US is on par with china is delusional, you see millions of americans openly slag the standing president and congress ece, in china this would get you black van'd within minutes.
People have this massive blind spot when it comes to china. They cry about how bad america is, when China is actively engaged in the genocide of the Ugers, actively practices imperialism with predatory practices throughout Africa, and implements 1984 tier social control systems with alarming efficiency. The people openly complaining about how the US is just as bad are running ont he purest grade of irony and unawareness that, if they were remotely correct, they would not have the freedom to complain about the US all day.
