No sound after reformatting PC

well what i did is i downloaded a device scanner...they gave me the sound driver for my pc..and it came out as the realtek AC'97 Audio...
i downloaded it..still wont work...and on the device manger there is an error...(shown below)

Did you download this device scanner before or after trying to look for a driver for your particular set-up?
What is the name of this particular device scanner?
I assume that all the other drivers are working fine?
I imagine that the software may have picked up the particular chip on your sound card incorrectly, as you need the correct driver for a particular chip set.

Try some of the steps listed in the above mentioned article if they don't resolve this issue then try this:

Save a report of what it finds as a .txt file and I'll have a look to see what drivers you need.
Hopefully I should be able to find the right driver so that you can make a backup cd of it/remember where to find it in case you ever encounter this problem again.

You may need to contact the manufacturer of your mobo/soundcard and ask them to email you the drivers, I would burn them to disk for future restores of windows. The same thing happened to me, I have an asus mobo with realtek audio and the only drivers that would work were on the mobos original disk, that i lost... :L just ask if you can get another disk sent to you,
