Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

About a month ago my computer would lock up, run very...very slow,
<Control><Alt><Delete> would not let me shut down.
All I could do would be to hit the big "OFF PANIC BUTTON" with my foot.
Spinning hour glasses and programs that refused to exit were common.
Finally I ran Norton Disk Doctor and got this message:

Error of hard drive 3 - Master Partition Table is unreadable.

The Master Partition Table is Physically damaged.
Norton Disk Doctor is unable to continue with repairs.
Correct this situation if you are unable to access partitions on hard drive 3.

Do you wish to correct this problem?
[Yes] [No] [Cancel]

I select Yes and suddenly i get this message:
Only a low level format will correct the error found.

I do not understand what Hard Drive 3 - Norton is looking at.
I only have one Internal Hard Drive on this computer.
The other drive is an external USB Hard Drive.

Could someone tell me what is happening ?
I am completely lost on the Dark Side of the Moon with this.
Any information will be appreciated.
Thank you and Happy New Year.

RickM

It must be Sata position 3, or IDE position 3 (not the 3rd HardDrive !)

Anyway, I've fixed these faults with a licensed version of PartitionMagic
But in your case, it may be best to backup (if possible) then remove the partition and re-install Windows

Maybe have a look at the free partition tool (and BootCD) GParted
