Nvidia now holds 80% of the dedicated GPU market

Even if AMD competed with Nvidia I still wouldn't buy them until they sort their drivers out, apparently even nearly 10 years later they haven't solved the black screen issue with dual monitor setups and then there is all the issues with the 5700 series...

Transistor count alone really doesn't tell a useful picture. The GP102 (as used in the 1080 Ti) has 48% more transistors than the 980 Ti's GPU and, depending on the game and resolution, it's as much as 100% faster. The likes of the RTX 2060, which has 18% fewer transistors than the 980 Ti is notably faster than it and it has those not-so-useful features too.

1080 Ti has much faster memory and much higher clock speeds than 980Ti. Same applies to GTX 2060. So comparison is very unfair.

However when comparing "same generation" chips, when memory bandwidths are somewhat similar and clocks speed differences are quite small, AMD has clear edge on transistor count vs speed ratio when comparing GTX 2080 Ti and 5700XT.
