Older GPUs take advantage of newer drivers?

Hi all, I have an old system with AMD R9 380x, should I update my GPU drivers every time there's a new version or am I fine with some older drivers? Or is there such a thing like "best driver version for xx hardware"? I ask because new versions are mostly optimised for new hardware and I wonder if updating in fact reduces my card's performance or causes issues rather than fixing?

There's nothing in it for you. Concentrate on keeping Windows updated and also your security software. Chasing drivers when everything is working properly is just asking for problems.
