I'm trying to install Quickbooks 2004. The disk auto-runs, and I choose the installation option. The following message appears:

The operating system denied access to the specific file.

qbooks\setup.exe

How do i get around it? I tried manually running the setup but the program would not respond. Unlocker did nothing. I'm installing this for a friend, and she needs to get QuickBooks on her laptop so that she can take it to her accountant, and she needs to be there in a few days, so any help would be appreciated.

Do you have any antivirus running? Try turning it off temporarily. (Ater you have manually scanned all the installation files of course).

Nodsu has a point in fact I have Quickbooks for years.
I install it by first, using process tab in Task Manager and shut down all unnecessay processes. You must install as an Administrator.
Also she will not be able to run the software as a Limited user, her user account has to have at least Power user level permissions .(It is a pain) If you disk won't autorun > Explore the setup disk and dbl click the setup file.
