Outlook Express 6 Export MAPI error

When I try to Export messages, I'm getting "an error occurred while initializing MAPI" ??? This happens with a "clean" install and with Outlook configured as POP, "not" MAPI ! Already checked MS Knowledge Base and it was of no help!

First of all.. MAPI is used typically for Exchange based features. It can be used for other features, particularly something like exporting to a PST file.

Is this Outlook or Outlook Express? BIG difference. Just checking, I know you said OE...

Indicates for OE up to 5.5.. However, it may still work for 6. (Appears not to)

This indicates that Export isn't what you want, but backup the data instead. Provides several good links.

To Clarify:

Outlook Express 6's export function is meant only to export messages directly to Outlook 2000+ or Exchange.. To go to other programs, you should backup your data and then import from the backup.

Thanks Goalie ! I've got a backup program that works fine, I just thought that something was wrong since the Import/Export wasn't working .....
