Pandora CEO Joe Kennedy told those in attendance at the CTIA Wireless conference that the music streaming service has surpassed the 150 million user mark. The feat makes Pandora the second most downloaded app of all time in Apple’s App Store

The company has high aspirations with the belief that this milestone is only the beginning and with several major deals pending, Kennedy could very well be correct. CNET tells us that Pandora is trying to get their service integrated into the vehicles of nearly every automaker, similar to satellite radio. The service would function right alongside the traditional radio but there’s no current timeline for when this might happen or if Pandora would charge a subscription for vehicle service.

Late last year the streaming service removed the 40 hour listening cap on free accounts in addition to introducing a new site layout with improved features. Users are now able to share stations with friends through a URL unique to that station. There’s also a share button for Facebook, Twitter and email to facility sharing.

These moves were likely in response to increasing pressure from competitor Spotify, a company that has been receiving a lot of press lately. Last month it was reported that Spotify would be releasing a streaming radio app similar to Pandora’s offering to bolster their current service. They also released a dedicated iPad app last week, a feature that many felt was lacking for some time.
