I bought an external 120 gb hard disk. I would like to partition it into 6 partition.

Is this possible?

If yes, what software do you recommend? Any freeware options?

Thanks,

Tom

should be doable using the XP disk mgr -- did you try it?

btw: 120/6 parts = (6x) 20gb partitions; why so small?

Also consider: An external HD can be used by other systems,
even Mac and Linux *IF* you plan ahead now -- format as FAT32 :)

120GB = 114GB after formating if it's a Maxtor. Other brands like WD you're looking at 112GB free. Better to keep the entire driver or split it into 60GB each. One might be less than the other for true GB results after format partitions.

If there is nothing on it now, or if you have space on a local hard drive to move data to temporarly there is absolutely no good reason to not use Disk Management.

You can only have 4 primary partitions though before needing to use extended. Might just go with extended for all 6.
