Does anyone know of a good program that will work with VISTA that will partition a drive while VISTA is on the drive, a free one would be best? I bought a Dell computer to run a program on all the time and would like to partition the main hard partition so I do not have to install all programs on the same partition as windows.

I did not know there was one, but that is the first thing I will check out now because the partition-manager demo is a joke I spent an hour getting it to understand what I wanted for it to do to tell me the demo would not do that I would have to buy the product. is the software easy to find? well I am going to try now.

Hope this helps.....I'm not in front of my Vista computer at the moment.

1) Click on the Start menu

2) Right click on Computer and click on Manage

3) You may get a User Account Control dialog here; just click Continue

4) In the left pane, open up the Storage category and click on Disk Management

5) Here, you will find your partitions (if you have any) for your disks. Right click on the partition (volume) you would like to modify.

6) Click on Shrink Volume to shrink the selected partition. And it will then create a new volume.

7) Format the new volume. ( I think you still need to do this, I'm not sure.)
