I've just built my self a new p.c. when i turn it on, after about 10-15mins it just turns itself off (no error screens just straight off).
I thought it was a cpu overheating problem so i downloaded speedfan to monitor temperatures and tried again.
So I turned it on again and it went of again but my cpu temp never rose above 34 degrees.

Is that too hot for a phenom?? if not what else could cause it to turn off?

my specs are:
phenom 9850
gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H mobo
saphire 4870
4x1gb ocz fatal1ty ram
ez cool 700w psu

any help appreciated

Look at the thermal past on your heatsink. It can be too thick as easily as it can be too thin.
Re-read all the manuals and trouble shooting which came with the Gigabyte board, and also search online for problems with that model.
Try another videographics card to see if the problem goes away.
