Please help me with half-life LAN game

i have two computers linked with an ethernet hub and wires. both computers have xp home and the lan i set up works fine. but when i host a game on one and try to join from the other, it says "Could not connect to game server reason: LAN servers are restricted to local clients (class c)" Please help with this!!

i have had this problem before
im pretty sure the answer will be in lan settings
change the security level to zero - remembering that it is only those two computers on the lan so it wont be a risk to lose security
if that doesnt work try some of the in game options and hunt around
also what game are you using?

well i managed to solve this problem by changing the ip addresses. it turns out that class c means that the first three sets of numbers are identical.
i.e. 111.111.111.111
*and 111.111.111.112
that seemed to fix it alright, i just hope it stays that way
the game is half-life v. 1.1.1.0 (not with steam)
