Problem ripping and importing CDs

Okay..

This is an issue that is becoming more and more of a problem. To make it straight forward..

We did a fresh install on a customers computer and everything went fine, but she came back a little after saying that she was not able to import a few of her CDs to iTunes. I attempted WMP and it just said "error".. iTunes will import only a few seconds of each song. We reinstalled drivers and tried a brand new CD drive. We were able to copy a utility cd of ours without any problems and w/ only one drive. She said that there were no problems ripping the cds to her computer before the fresh install and she can still rip them on her laptop, along with one of our benchs. We have checked iTunes settings but I dont think it's iTunes because WMP errors out to..

It's vista so of course administrator rights were used for installing and running.
Bios has very few cd rom features, and no errors in event viewer.

Any thoughts are appreciated
Thank you

Don't know if this will apply to your case, but give it a shot. See [post=815753]CD/DVD or Disk Problems? How to Fix Problems Caused by Filters[/post]. Note, after removing the filters, you may need to reinstall the CD/DVD ripping software plus iTunes. tho would suggest you re-test the problem at each point before each reinstall

Thank you for the thought, but we have looked at upper / lower filters...

We installed XP on another HD and were able to RIP CD's no problem.. just as an FYI maybe someone will have some thoughts.

It's an HP Mini Sierra 3500F
