Problem when copying an Excel file

Hello all,
I have an Excel 2010 file. When I want to copy or cut it to some elsewhere, that file will not be copied, instead a shortcut of some KBs will be copied! Copying other Excel or else files has no problem. But this one has.
Any idea on what is wrong with this file please?
I'm running a Win 7 machine.

Likely it is a networked file and opened by someone on the network.

It was itself a shortcut. I don't know where it has come from. So whenever I would copy it, it would copy another shortcut. Its size and the copies were each one about 3 KB.
I copied the contents of that file into another Excel 2010 file then the shortcut sign vanished and this time the size became 13 KB!
The problem of copying this way was solved as well. But I don't know what was the region of this problem.
Thanks.

When copying there is three options (copy, move, or create shortcut). It is very easy to make mistakes, while making copies. Congrats on a successful resolution to the issue.

I'd use ctrl+x for pasting it or paste option not create shortcut.:)
I think the error pron is elsewhere!

I deleted that shortcut file otherwise I could hold the mouse pointer over it, then a pallid writing would rise showing the path of the original file! :)
