Problem with graphics

my grandparents have an hp computer. they use it to play casino games. the thing is some games don't work on it. when you try to play them there are tons of squares (not pixel size) with the picture all messed up. like a puzzle. then sometimes the system icons and window bars don't show up. finally sometimes it doesn't turn on and a blue screen comes up saying almntr or something has stopped working and to restart. i've tried unnistalling the driver, that didn't help. i tried slowing the acceleration which made the icons come back, but then the games didn't work. Any solutions?
