Problem with samsung tv

I bought a Samsung LCD tv at a garage sale the other day. I knew the tv was broken when I bought it and I thought it was just the capacitors that were bad. when I looked at the capacitors they all looked fine and now I don't know what is wrong with it .

The tv will turn on and then flash the screen for around 2 seconds then go black.

the model is LN- S5296dx/xaa

You said the screen goes black, but does the sound stay on?

If you shine a bright flashlight across the screen, can you see a picture? Could be an issue with the back-light.

The back light seems to be working because when I turn it on I can see the light flash from the back

But if it doesn't stay on there could still be an issue with it is all I'm saying.

This could be a primary power supply fault... Time to check some voltages
