Problems with my CDRW Drive.

Memorex's CD-r manufacturing plant is considered low-quality, believe it or not. Their media reflects this, although it comes in attractive packaging, not-cheapo price and widely distributed.

I live in Australia and we have at least 48X CDR's available.... I only bought 40X's cause the particular type I got I'd heard good things about.

Still waiting on decent RW's tho... only got 1 24xRW that came with my drive (52x24x52x). Basically the same story as iss here.

Doesn't 40x12x48x mean you can burn CDs at 40x?
At least I can.

You have to take into account that the CDs can be a limiting factors in some case where the quality is really not that good especially the cheap ones.

No, there's not. A CD drive can recognize CDs without a computer - you can hear if the CD spins correctly or not.

Yeah and you can also play audio cds without the IDE cable plugged in.
