Im having this strange problem and it making me frustrated. at the beginning I was hearing a buzzing/hissing sound coming from my psu and when I took my gpu out and did a little cleaning my pc won't boot any more(no beep), and that buzzing sound became much louder.

when I install my gpu back it doesn't boot also with no beep, but after few attempts it boot normally.
when I take my gpu out it doesn't boot no matter how much attempts I make.

now if its a psu issue how come it boot with my high power consumption gpu, however it doesn't boot with my integrated card at all!(my vga cable is working)
could some one please try to explain that to me.

my specs:
cpu: intel i5-3470
gpu: sapphire 7870xt
mobo: gigabyte h61m-s2p
psu: thermaltake 500w model TT-

I want you to look at the specifications tab closely before you say anything else.
Having that video card needing 500 watts minium and your psu has 500 watts only.
Playing russian roulette with something either going dead or shorting out the whole mobo.
I suggest you look into buying a seasonic psu, they are much more reliable then thermal take psu.

I understand you love your card because of the amount on streaming cores it comes packed with.
Also the base stock speed is beefy but that 7800 series does have its problems.
You could invest into a better gpu card that doesn't require the local electric company to power it on all day.

This is something to keep in mind if you do replace the psu and store up more money later for a newer gpu upgrade.

thank you, I'll consider buying the seasonic or corsair.. I'm just afraid that after buying an expensive psu I found out that it wasn't the issue and the problem still exist.. that's why I'm trying to make sure that its a psu issue before buying a new one..

Well to be sure of that, if you can grab a hold another computer, switch out psu.
If your thermal take starts having problems in another computer in under 6 hours.
Its a safe bet to assume the psu is at fault, or if you have time and patience.
Speak with the tier 3 geek squad technicians, if they find a problem with it.
Just go ahead and a buy a new one from newegg or amazon.com.
If you know how to access the event viewer in windows that should tell you what is going on.
Any red x's pointing at a particular hardware software it will tell you in the error/details tab.

since I can't grab a hold another computer. I just want to know could a faulty psu works better with higher power consumption, but with lower ones it doesn't work at all? like unorginazble voltages or something.. cause that's the issue I'm having and I just wanted to know if that could happens from a "technican view"

No it will not, if its faulty it will perform lower, so you should expect that right from the start.
Now you could assume it'll do better, but when you come home one day and find that computer dead.
You'll will wish you would have done something about it and listen to this coot on the forum.
Here is something to test your current and future psu with just in case you have the same problem.

thank you I'll try to test or buy a new one and take the risk.. but anyway I wasn't assuming that my psu is fine..
I was just trying to find a potential explanation for why when I install my gpu pc boot, but when I take it out pc won't boot.
because this is a strange issue and I'm just curious. I gussed that maybe the mobo could be dying or have a weak voltages
so when a high power consumption component installed on it like gpu it motivate the mobo and make it work.
I don't know if that could be possible. I'm just a curious dude.
