Put firewire in upside down, now drive wont work

I have a fantom drives mdc1000 external 1tb drive that I unwittingly put the Firewire cable into upside down and then powered on. After realizing the mistake, I then put it in right side up, but now it won't boot up onto my desktop. I've tried different ports in my computer and different ieee cables, but nothing changes. So, I'm wondering if I just need to find an external case that it will fit in (if so, which one) or if it is beyond help.

Thanks,

Not sure how you managed that, the ends are designed so they only go in 1 way... In any case, if it doesn't work it seems like you damaged or fried the firewire portion, hopefully only on the drive end. Getting a new external enclosure may be your best bet.

Try it on another computer first to see that you didn't mess it up on the computer side.
