Quad core processor

if a quad core processor has a frequency of 2.2ghz, is that frequency the sum ofall the four cores or is it just one core that delivers this much freq?

Each core is operating at the advertised frequency independently...

each core produces 2.2ghz .............thats y they call it as quadcore........

If you have a program using all 4 cores the same time, that means processing speed is theoretically 4 times as fast that a 2.2 ghz single core at 8.8 ghz.

That is theoretical obviously. The CPU runs as one at the rated speed.
