Retrieving deleted files off an olympus camera

hi, i had alot of photos on my camera my dad put them on the desktop straight from the cam as shorcuts now hes deleted all the files off the camera now i got shorcuts that wont work i have tried everything and not got the pictures back is there any way to get the pictures back?
