Something to look forward to: One of the most anticipated video games of the decade is set to arrive next year, and now we have a more specific launch window to keep an eye on. In its latest earnings report, Take-Two stated that its previous Grand Theft Auto VI launch window of "sometime in 2025" has been updated to the fall of next year. Some expected the game in the first half of 2025, suggesting a delay might have pushed it to the latter half of the year.

GTA 6 is reportedly in the final stages of development. Back in February, the company ordered remote workers back to the office full time to help finish up the game and plug any potential leaks.

We have already had a couple of early looks at what Rockstar is cooking. In September 2022, a hacker posted more than 90 videos and screenshots of early development content from the game. Rockstar was ready to show its first trailer in December 2023, but someone beat them to the punch by a single day. That said, the leaks did little to damper excitement.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said earlier this year that the development team is pushing for perfection rather than racing to get the game out to market as fast as possible.

Anyone that watched the first official trailer no doubt came away impressed (here's a cool real-life recreation of that trailer, too). The game is set in the Miami-inspired Vice City, though this one takes place during modern times.

From the photorealistic graphics to the on-point ties to modern society (extensive social media use could be a key gameplay element), this could very well be the most realistic sim-style game ever created. Rockstar would really have to go out of its way to screw up this this mega cash cow.

Even in its pre-launch stage, the game is already setting records. The trailer amassed more than 90 million views on YouTube in the first 24 hours and is up to nearly 191 million as of this writing.

Def waiting on the pc release. Putting the ps5 out to pasture earlier then I anticipated.
So more like 2027 for us, not in a hurry. It is a bit odd tho given the whole “multiplat” commitment as of late.

Remember when this launches that they specifically stated they are taking the time to push for perfection.

I don't get Rockstar games. Every time I play one I feel like "oh, this is it? Just goofing off and side missions in an open world with a suburban gangster attitude?"

Maybe the best "Rockstar" game I ever played was Sleeping Dogs, but that was almost entirely carried by it's unique setting and fun story.

It's the world simulation and freedom that sets them apart from other studios.

GTA IV is best gta and the online wasn't about the grind and profit, it's just good old fashioned fun.

Not in a hurry? It's been so long that there's no point to even care. Not to mention how PC it could potentially be. They milked GTA 5 to a pathetic level instead of coming out with the next iteration in the series a lot sooner like they should have.

They made RDR2 like 5 years after GTAV. Now it's been 5 and a half since RDR2. People like to think it's taking 12 years to make a video game. It's not. They make other games. Name one other single game that is as complex as RDR2 that took 5 years to make, you can't. And isn't gta the opposite of PC, there's a button for just insulting strangers in that game. Now the whack goty It Takes Two was PC, why anyone wanted a video game about divorce is beyond me.

I would have thought they would have created an entirely new team to make GTA 6 seeing hope popular GTA 5 or instead of constantly updating GTA 5 and working on online components, that team would work on GTA 6. There are some out of the world games out there for sure, never understood work simulators instead of just getting a real job either.

They could've done something small like a 10 hour prequel but it also took forever just to get online heists going, which is the money maker for them. A whole new gta team would've been a huge bet on RDO which essentially was a failure in R* eyes. I think it's a good thing to work on just one title at a time.gta v was in the top 10 selling games for like a decade straight month after month, they want to repeat that.
