Rooftop solar panels could help mitigate climate change with widespread adoption

Tell me why you think the YOY temperature increases is not a real problem
Why longer droughts, more intense longer heat waves, more flooding is not a problem
...
Tell me a real problem ?
Tell me when the world will stop warming ?? ( never get an answer your you guys on this ever - because you know you are not honest or kind or caring , just rationalising selfish greedy behaviour )
A real problem is first and foremost an addressable problem.
If you dislike the outdoor temperatures, or, for some aesthetic reason, the great red spot on Jupiter - these are not addressable problems. We can't do anything that can influence them.

As we can't influence the natural climate variability, our only option is to adapt to it. In fact every living thing on Earth is already adapted, because changes of much greater amplitude than the currently observed fluctuations happened zillion times in the past.

By wasting colossal amounts of money and resources to 'solve' non-addressable problems, we drastically impair our capacity for solving real problems.
This makes climate hysteria probably the greatest real problem of our time, because it prevents solving a myriad of real problems. Luckily climate hysteria can be easily solved.

If every household installs solar panel on their roofs, it’s going to create more global warming, not reduce it. The panels are black, and they absorb heat and heat up greatly partially due to the process of converting light into power. Don’t take my word for it, just place a black or dark tinted glass out in noon day sun, then go crack an egg on it after 30 mins. I got a rude shock when I accidentally touched my Anker 15W solar panel left in the sun for some time. On one hand, we are saying to reflect heat back to space, on the other hand, some textbook “genius” is saying the opposite. You can get power from sunlight which is great, but it does not come without its price.

This.

Solar is not the answer to everything. Your reflecting back the heat.

Where I live (on a tropical island) we have a glut of rooftop-produced solar power whenever the sun is shining. Our grid doesn't connect to anywhere else, so there's nowhere for it to go. Meanwhile we still need the full complement of generation capacity for whenever its dark or cloudy.

So really it's all about the batteries. I am starting to see more electric cars around. If only there was some standard so that every car was also a standby battery for rooftop house electric.

Take a look at bi-directional charging, with Vehicle to Home (V2H) and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technologies.

I'm personally waiting for V2H chargers to be certified in Australia, then I'll make the plunge into buying an EV with V2H support. My main electricity usage is overnight, so a vehicle which can cover 10kWh every night and then recharge during the day from my existing 6.15 kW solar, would be ideal for my usage.

In Asia, it will cost you above the cost of one car to set up a system with a delimiter and batteries but no net metering. Estimated savings given the point that you don't use a lot of electricity during daylight is above 20 percent, but given the point that batteries need to be replaced every few years, the return on investment given savings is around 75 months or so.

Just like the Conservative government nearly bankrupt the UK in its 14 Years in office leaving the Labour government a serious mess to pay for. Good luck you you USA, and good luck to the world economy as well.
Unfortunately, people seem to have very short memories. It was the previous Labour government who bankrupted the UK and left it to the Conservatives to fix which is why we had Austerity. They just did a very bad job of it and now the current Labour government are screwing it up just as badly.

Yeah...lets put solar panels on top of the house....Ummm NO! A lot of the "midwest/plains" area has these events called HAIL STORMS. They tear up roofs, windows, cars etc. I'm sure the solar panels wouldn't survive it either.
The people who installed my panels said that the panels actually protect the roofs from these events, more likely the roof will be damaged than the panels. Fortunately I haven't been in a storm strong enough to test that theory.

Rooftop solar panels are a game-changer! 🌞 Widespread adoption could reduce reliance on fossil fuels and make clean energy more accessible. Time to go solar! ⚡♻️

Dying children is mostly a leftist media concoction, not all USAID money was stopped. If money doing real good was cut, that's because ginormous amounts were wasted on 'climate change', including "research" as the one described above.
If all the money and resourced wasted on "climate change" were used to solve real problems, like health problems in Africa or wherever, most of these problems would have been long gone.
My apologies, it's apparently 900,000 HIV patients. Also, you have extremely flexible morals. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c77887npl2mo

I'm always weary of putting them on the roof. The weight, mounting screws and leaks if shoddy installation is done. If I had the money and property space, I'd probably have a platform built on the ground. Another thing is Solar Companies going bankrupt in a short time because of finance problems, changing policies and a host of more things.
When they put solar on a roof, they put extra joists in the attic to support the additional weight.

Why should the US government be responsible for South Africa's HIV patients ??????????
I'm sure they have their own government.

But that's not the point. Had we not wasted trillions on "climate change", there would have been enough money to keep paying to Africa, despite the fact most of the money sent there is simply stolen.

You, recommend, huh? So, far, all you've done is offer "your" opinion. It's noted.

Oh you really have drank the cool aid,
It's just a natural variability - like in roman times or 400 million years ago .
We have no idea what causes it , we can not predict it.
leading hypothesis is unicorn belching

That man made CO2 is the leading cause went past the gold std was it 6 years ago

Nothing we can do my house with it's black iron roof, no trees in my city - there is nothing I can do to make it cooler - suppose I just adapt

You do know we are in one of the biggest mass extinction events evah

Sorry lets end this discussion has you are so misinformed , that you would be better off doing your own research

Do you know the temperature that trees in the Amazon will starting dying at in droves ? - ie the temps normally in equatorial zone are extremely stable , you fly to Singapore and you pretty much know what the temp will be for month of year

Look up that fun fact and it may shock you , probably not , as don't think you FN care one wit , you just want to consume without remorse

Really your whole response makes humans look like mumbo jumbo ignoramuses with no scientific methods
Do you even believe in any science or just Creation in 7 days ?

Did you even learn basic scientific method from hypothesis to conclusion

When will the Unicorn belching stop , you still haven't answered that , seems this fastest warming event in modern history is predicted to go on for 1000 years, more given your total belief we can do NOTHING , not produce less CO2 , not plant trees , not seed the ocean, grow seaweed etc

Must be weird feeling so powerless in your life

here's 2 proven ways to change the weather - from smartest man in the world

From that incoherent rant we see you are a staunch disciple of the religion of environmental catastrophism. I know that showing the inconsistencies in the core tenets of a religion to the followers is generally a lost cause. Anyway, consider this: No environmental catastrophism prophecy ever came to fruition. Maybe this will reduce your anxiety.

Solar panels are reflective, their albedo is better than a dark-colored tar shingle roof. I have solar on my roof. I checked. Roof from inside the attic under where the solar panels is also cooler.
I have solar and no hail has ever broken a panel of mine. I have however had to replace the exposed parts of the roof twice after a hailstorm. Houston, TX.

Seems a lot of you have some incorrect opinions about solar?
I've personally found that there are those who have absolutely no real-world experience with a subject about which they post, but they feign expertise. Your replies demonstrate that you do have the experience and those you responded to do not.

IMO, this is a prime example of why I posted to another thread the following quote from Babylon 5: "Delenn: What you don't know, you invent" Babylon 5, Season 4, Episode "Deconstruction of Falling Stars"

As I see it, those who rep\lied, without any personal experience, invented what they think is the reality of the situation when nothing could be further from the truth.

I have solar. Its great sticking it to the criminal electric orgs. Havent paid a cent to them since installing my system.

To clarify a few misnomers here:
1. They do not add anything to the attic to account for the extra weight, the panels are not that heavy they are going to break through your roof. If that is something that is in danger of happening, you have much bigger issues that need addressing than adding solar.
2. Panels dont get injured by snow, hail, rain, etc. They are quite resilient.
3. Adding panels did absolutely nothing for the temps of our attic and house. Where do you guys get this stuff from?

Most residential areas, solar is completely viable. more folks doing it, the less strain on the grid. I dont have a battery yet but its on my list. Like a poster above, they are very expensive and we decided to just get our system up and operating first. Unless you have a battery, you are still reliant on the grid and if power goes out, you lose power too. The only way around that is a battery.

In 5 years china will have 7x more solar power than the US. Another win for trump putting us further behind CHINA again... it is like he works for china ...
