Router problem

So we have a Netgear CM1000 modem. Seems fine.
I f-ed up I think when trying to reset the router. A Netgear Nighthawk XR500. Used to be able to use ethernet and wifi. I tried restarting the router because everything that uses the wifi isn't connected. Now only the computer with the ethernet cable works. What the hell did I do. Tried logging onto my router login but it keeps disconnecting. Internet works for that computer.

You should NEVER use WiFi to change router settings - - only wired connections.

  • Try resetting the router once again by pressing and holding the Reset button for seven seconds.
  • Now release the Reset button, this will reset your router to factory default settings.
  • Launch a web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Internet Explorer) from a computer that is connected via Ethernet cable to your router’s network.
  • Type http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com into your web browser’s address bar.
  • Press Enter or click Search.
  • In the router login window, enter following user name and password.
    • User Name: admin
    • Password: password
  • Click or tap OK or Log In.
  • If you have already done the above steps and you still keep getting disconnected then try using a different web browser or its Incognito mode.
  • Once logged in you can go to Wireless settings from the menu on the left and select WPA2-PSK (TKIP) encryption method along with the WPA2-PSK (TKIP) key I.e. the WiFi password that you like to setup for WiFi devices that will connect the the router's WiFi SSID.
Hope this helps.

That's correct. These domains are specific to Netgear router - which is what the reporter is having issues with.
Alternatively, you can find the Default Gateway IP address and use it to login to the router, as described by @jobeard. It is usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
