Samsung has announced a couple of updates to its mobile Windows 8 PC lineup that adds some higher-tier options to the company's ATIV Smart PC Pro and Series 9 Premium ultrabook ranges. First up, the ATIV 700T can be equipped with support for AT&T's 4G LTE, which was notably absent on older models and made the hybrid device less suitable for business customers who are frequently on the move.

Strangely, that seems to be the only tweak and it comes with a significant price premium. Samsung's press release says the system will cost $1,600, which is $200 over the base Wi-Fi-only 700T. Other specs include an 11.6-inch 1080p display, a Core i5-3317U with HD Graphics 4000, 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, 2MP front camera and 5MP rear camera, a USB 3.0 port, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and WiDi support.

Naturally, that initial $1,600 purchase doesn't include an actual data plan from AT&T, and you'll have to part with another $150 if you want the ATIV's keyboard dock for hybrid functionality. That part adds a full-size keyboard sans numpad along with a touchpad and two USB 2.0 ports. The tablet itself weighs 1.96lbs, measures 0.47 inches thick, offers up to eight hours of run time and ships with Windows 8 Pro.

Meanwhile, the second Samsung update adds a higher resolution display to the nine-month-old Series 9 ultrabook. The updated version replaces last year's 13.3-inch 1600x900 display with a 1080p panel that also touts a "SuperBright" technology which supposedly makes the display 50% brighter than you'll find on other notebooks. Pricing will be set at $1,900, which includes an i7-3517U and a 256GB SSD.

Hope the full hd resolution (1920x1080) becomes the default resolution of even the cheapest laptop.
manufacturers can place full hd res on smartphones/phablets, so there is no more excuse not to have it.

Either the dock in the first picture is from the T300 or T700 Asus series or someone is getting sued.
