Sempron 64 bit vs Athlon xp !

    Yes, they are basically the same thing, but the Athlon XP does not have 64-bit and is completely phased out, so I'd suggest a Socket 754 Sempron CPU.

    If you can afford like 100$ more than a Socket 939 Athlon 64 CPU is a wiser choice :)

    SEMPRON 64 bit - yes

    i'd have to say the semprom 64 bit is better than the athlon xp sine this semron has only 128kb L2 cache less than Athlon (also 64 bit) when compared to the xp version which uses 32 bit architecture........ sempron 64 bit anyday!

    They should be faster as they support the new hypertransport bus and SSE3. I'm referring to the 256 cache versions.

    sempron 64bit would be a better cpu due to the 64bit and see3 support as well as better manufacturing process(the smaller die and onboard memory controller).

    If you are looking to buy a new system with new cpu, I would acutally suggest go for amd64 socket 939 3000+.

    What good is the 64 bit architecture?

    do your programs require it?

    Are games written in it, or is it just wishful thinking?
