Sergey Brin says 60-hour in-office weeks are key to Google's AI push

The US has become such a sh1t place to live, Donald Trump getting in power being the final straw.
The politicians and billionaires have turned the country into a capitalist dystopian nightmare, where they wring the population dry for more and more wealth for themselves.
In Europe we have a much more balanced outlook - work 37 hours a week - 28 days holiday plus 8 public holidays - sick days do not come from your holiday allowance.

LOL calm down a bit :)
Those working for Google most definitely don't do it "for minimum wages", and are not some poor outcasts of fortune exploited by evil capitalists.
Everyone working for themselves works more than 60 hours and considers it perfectly normal. People in tech make comparable money on average, but without taking any risks.
I wonder how many are here on an H1B visa? Bet they are not making that much.

Back to the ol victorian england BABYYYY.
But seriously I don't doubt that he doesn't believe in work life balance. It's incredibly easy to think that way when you're working for your own company. And while employees get stock options at the end of the day the founders still hold a whole lot more than your average employee. So while a massive uplift in stock price might make some employees a few millions it's going to make the founders exponentially more than that.

Also I find the 60h a day comment hilarious. Most ppl will start to lose focus by the half way point of an 8 hour workday. Just a few weeks ago I had a colleague ask for my help when I was tired and despite working 2h with them on the issue we didn't get ahead. Next day around 4h into my personal tasks the solution hits me out of nowhere. How useful were those 2 hours I wasted working on a flawed approach because I was tired and the much simpler solution eluded me?

Office "work"
This is my business O&G. Nobody throws chain like this anymore. It's too much of an insurance risk. There are huge armatures we use now to connect pipes. At least they had their helmets on. I saw another show off video like this where they were not wearing PPE, and they were also smoking. Ridiculous.

What a weird way to say, we don't have enough employees to do the work because we laid off so many of them and even more with return to office "layoffs".
