setup not responding

HI All,
Just found this forum and I'm well impressed :)

Hope you can help me with a really irritating problem on my win98 (se) pc. Everytime I try to install a new program using the standard setup mode or installwizard the computer freezes and when I check the task monitor I keep getting a "setup (not responding)" message. Also, at various other times the OS freezes and I get a msgserv32 not responding in the task monitor. Any ideas?

cheers

Start with checking if you have enough memory and more important, Hardddisk space. Do a chkdsk/defrag anyway.
There is an MS-Installer update for W98, did you install that? (D/L from MS).

Also, whenever you install a new program, switch off all other programs (except Systray and Explorer), especially Anti-virus stuff.
