Silicon Valley reacts to Donald Trump's victory

All those California liberals preaching "inclusion" and " diversity"

Now you've got a White male (orange?) billionaire, sociopath, megalomaniac womanizer as President.

Doesn't get any more diverse than that right?

Orange is the new black...

That said. I agree, the Democrats already lost, it's not time to be soar and work towards building something instead of destroying it.
I would certainly like to agree with you on making something positive out of this.

However, the election was won on promises of destroying the status quo, putting women in their place, and abject xenophobia. IMO, if 45 continues on that path it will be very difficult to get anything out of 45 that will be positive in the sense of it benefiting all of humanity especially if 45 comes through with his promise to stack SCOTUS with stone-age judges which will then tip the overall balance of the scales.

The one good thing that might come out of this is that people who slept through this will awaken to the fact that someone who has publicly displayed and espoused the qualities of a bully was elected to be 45. Guberment in the US is still so broken that it will be highly unlikely 45 will do much better than 44. I would not be surprised if 45 does worse than 44.

If one has the capacity to look at the campaign promises of presidents going back to at least 1980, I would bet that most all of them were never fulfilled. So it is likely to be with 45. When people preface their hopes and dreams on someone else, they give their power away to control their own future.

People who wanted an outsider definitely have that now. As I see it, we also have the potential for the equivalent of sharia law in the US only by a different name.

I am willing to bet that even those in some of the worst circumstances in the US have it better than those in the worst of circumstances in the rest of the world, so much so that they do not realize just how good life in the US is in comparison to the worst of conditions elsewhere in the world.

In the Babylon 5 episode "Infection" there is one gem of wisdom that it seems some have not learned yet: "When you become fanatical about the enemy, you become the enemy."

Lol, I love hearing about clinton supporters crying.. I mean really, how stupid can you be to vote for her. She wanted open borders, strongly supported abortion aka killing unborn babies, very secretive that bleached data to hid her tracks, and I can go on and on..
Well you seem to have your rose colored glasses on.

What kind of qualities does 45 now stand for?

Raping women and forcing them to have the babies of the rapists?
Assuming all people who look different than you or practice a different religion than you are automatically bad?
Sharia law in the US, but by a US name?

Seems to me the world tried those same things in the 1930s and 1940s. That did not work out well then, but it is going to work out well now?

Makes a lot of sense to me when viewing the world in black and white terms. The real challenge, and something that has not been seen in US politics for a long, long time, is being grey.

Trump has a majority in both the House & Senate that will remain for the next two years .... that being said, he won't have any excuses for not accomplishing all of his promises ... so now the work begins and we'll see how good a leader he is by his choices and his actions. We can all hope for the best, but we would also be wise to prepare for the worst. Only time will tell.

My prediction from 2007:

1. Presbo wins POTUS
2. Institutes terrible policies
3. Presbo wins second term
4. Effects of (2) begin to manifest
5. Republicans swept into power in 2016
6. Consequences of (4) materialize with R's holding the ball around approx. 2020.
7. Pendulum swings back to D's because R's "destroyed America/world."

So far: that's 5 out of 7.
While I do not find myself agreeing with you very often, no POTUS has ever been able to keep all their promises, and I think your scenario is highly likely to come true.

he played on the anger of voters
And that is no different than any other election. Seriously that is what debating has become. That is if it hasn't always been that way.
Amen to that. Debating has become all about blaming someone else for all the problems, and getting people to believe that you, alone, have the power to change the world. In other words, disempower those who you profess to represent, make them feel as if you can change things for them, then when reality finally catches up with you, claim you never said any of what you are on record as saying and play the blame game again, only this time, blame those who supported you.

Tea party republicans did this in 2008, and it is likely to happen again. I think it is more likely that four years from now, guberment will still be just as broken if not more so.

from what I've seen, obama left the nation in better shape than he found it. this guy is just playing the same old game of blaming everything bad on whoever he already disapproves of, and everything good on his chosen hero

Stop projecting.

That was a good episode, which I think was focused on "purity" and how "no one is actually pure".

Good quote.

Thing is "Trump" is more like BANE from the 3rd Batman movie.

LOL secession will NOT be tolerated.
Of course it won't, it's been illegal since the Civil War.

Which makes this potentially treasonous: "The rest of tech world hasn’t welcomed the news of a Trump presidency. Iranian-American entrepreneur Shervin Pishevar has said he will help the state of California – the sixth largest economy in the world - secede from the US and become its own nation. His plan was backed by fellow Angel investor Dave Morin".

And wouldn't ya know, this windbag is somehow tried to Iran.

Hillary Clinton dragged in black voters in the upper 80 and 90th percentile in the inner cities. One of her latest ads, featured her kissing a black baby. "Baby Kissing" is a long standing staple of the political process. Politicians kiss babies in the demographic(s) they are trying to woo. Perhaps she should have gone to the heartland, and God forbid, kissed a few more white ones.

The "black lives matter" crew were protesting in front of the White House in the middle of the night.

Which would seem to indicate they somehow don't believe "white lives matter" as well.

Oh well, I'm sure Canada's immigration website will be back up and running in no time. Maybe they could go up to "the Great White North", and see if the "social entitlement waters" are warmer in Canada. < See what I did there? ;)

Somewhat pathetically, the social justice movement has laid its cards on the table. "If you don't elect the president we want, "you 'scriminatin'"

Here come all the temper tantrums... I'm just waiting for Obama's tantrum. I will be pleasantly surprised if he doesn't throw one.

That being said had Hillary won there would have been a lot of tantrums as well. If Trump doesn't bring America back on the right course by 2020 you chaps better vote his *** out, I know I would.

...

I don't agree with Pishevar's opinion that California should secede. States already have a good deal of leeway to govern themselves the way they want, never-mind the legality of such a move.

That being said, what exactly do you intend to accomplish by mentioning a person's Iranian heritage in such a manner? It sure doesn't sound like praise. Yes, Iran as a country has a reputation for hostility, but it should be obvious that the actions of governments do not always represent the people. We don't rag on Sergey Brin for being tied to the Soviet Union. The families of both moved to the United States for a better life.

I must confess.

I stole this pic of Trump laughing to use against social media liberals as their tear ducts run dry.

Yesterday when the talking heads were predicting a different winner the cry was, "We need to set a side our differences and unite behind the winner!" What has changed?

Liberalism is not what American's want, they just have the loudest mouths. America has spoken, time to toss transgender bathrooms and the rest of the BS into the trash. Time for the government to actually do it's job instead of community organizing for the minority.

You MUST be blind!

"Shervin Pishevar has said he will help the state of California – the sixth largest economy in the world - secede from the US and become its own nation. "

Please make it happen! One liberal nation under sharia law....perfect except USA have to build a bigger wall.

Or maybe more like Mollari from B5 (without Mr. Morden's support, of course).
You and I may disagree as to who we supported, however, I think we both want something better. Personally, I think it goes far deeper than most of the things cited during the campaign. I don't have an answer as I think things are so broken that what is needed is something far different than has ever been on the plate anywhere in the world.

I hope we both get that better world that we are looking for; however, I cannot support the efforts if they are exclusionary of any human being - in other words, based on some fantasy version of purity. The world was down that road before; it did not work then, it will not work now. As Einstein said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and expecting different results."
