    ADEL, Ga. (AP) - Paula Crosby's dial-up Internet connection was so slow she played computer solitaire while waiting for sluggish pages to appear. And when her teenage daughter surfed the Web, it tied up the family's phone line for hours.

    Thanks to their small town's leap into the latest technology, the Crosby family now connects seven times faster with wireless broadband, and the cost is about what they paid for dial-up.

    There are many places (places as in whole villages, not some hotel lobbies) with free WiFi over here. Just buy the gear and you have free net access.

    If the same thing occured in the UK, I wouldn't be suprised to see government legislation against it! As great as it is, it's gotta hurt the big companies!

    And when big companies get hurt by smaller ones, they get's just a shame that so many small communities don't have access to broadband yet...can you imagine, there are substantial groups of people out there who don't even know what the internet is...
