Sound Card differences

I'm trying to find out if upgrading my Creative Live Soundcard to Revolution 7.1 is advantageuos since I use the SPDIF out. Isn't it if you use the digital connection to your amp.... the amps' processor will take care of the decoding, hence bypassing the processor of the sound card? Gurus please enlighten me.

Is something the matter with the digital output from your Live? If all is well then keep it.

The Revolution 7.1 certainly seems to be a worthy competitor for the Audigy 2, but do you play alot of new games? The Rev. seems to fall short in that category from what I've heard.

If you really need a new sound card I would reccomend the Audigy 2.

If I'm not mistaken, yes, the digital output from a soundcard is the raw audio the soundcard gets from the computer. Sound cards are not designed for use with receivers, rather computer speakers without DACs of their own.
