i have been having trouble with my laptop and fixed one problem and caused my spacebar to hide somewhere. i cannot seem to get it back. can anyone help me

I interpret your description to mean that striking the spacebar does not generate a space; the cursor does not advance.

Try these suggestions in any order,
  • Reload or update keyboard drivers
  • Introduce a ps/2 or usb keyboard. Reboot. Test function of both keyboards. I have no idea if the auxiliary KB disables the other KB.
  • Use on-screen keyboard
    [*]Start ! all programs ! accessories ! Accessibility ! on-screen keyboard
[*]Open Notepad (or other suitable application such as this reply window)
[*]Use on-screen keyboard to test spacebar.[*]If on-screen keyboard experiences the same problem, then we need to dig deeper. Presently I have not located any help deciphering scancode maps.
  • You can perform a scancode 'hunt' by striking every key to confirm the generated character corresponds to the key. The hunt looks for the space for a different key stroke.
  • System Restore to a saved point that pre-dates this problem.
