Speaker, sound card good, but no audio?

win7 64 bit; x-fi titanium card; logitech z-5500 speakers: speaker self-test is good.....creative console speaker test is good, therefore it's not card or cables, BUT....No sound through system. no system sounds, no media player/game sounds. Could i have deleted some codec or something? I'M STUMPED! help????:dead:

Did you just install Windows 7, or did the computer come with it installed?

Try using System Restore to a point before you noticed the problem.

i built it last year - has been stable throughout....

just completed system restore to the last point i'm comfortable with.....no change.

Does the motherboard have on-board sound? If so, remove the xfi and see if the on-board sound will work
