Speedstream 4100

In an effort to increase productivity, I bought a router tonight (Belkin N Wireless). When setting the router up to the modem (speedstream 4100) I came to the realization the 4100 requires an Ethernet cable (8 cables) in both the DSL port and the Ethernet port, hope that makes sense. However the 4100 will only accept an Ethernet cable in one port and not both. Is there any way I can make this network work or do I need a new modem that accepts an Ethernet cable in both ports. If you need more information please let me know. Thanks:confused::mad:
