The Best DLSS 4.5 Update Yet: Ray Reconstruction

I hardly see a difference in the zoomed in images. I doubt I'd notice anything while playing.

I think the quality has plateaued and further improvements should be made to optimizing performance.

The biggest difference I've seen is the retention of rain effects and puddle, reflections have higher level of details and some images seem less soft.

Its like Amperes are the biggest winners here, judging by your tests. But what about saying that plain “dlss 4.5 is soo good that RR is not needed anymore”?

BTW, you forgot to include Alan Wake which has awfull denoiser options and should get the most from dlssrr 4.5.

At this point, TechSpot should mention that Tim's content is sponsored by Nvidia...

I just cannot take anything from him seriously, and this is really problematic.

It could be a simple question of momentary effect animation and upscalling.
Yesterday I tried Model M vs model F Dlss quality at 4k pathtracing in Cyberpunk 2077 biggest difference in 3 minute window I played around was the ambient lighting on the surfaces were brighter. Have to play around more to see.

This is hilarious!!

Is the author of this "article" not aware he has either used the same picture twice in each comparison, or that 99.999999% of us peasants have to use AI to tell the difference, if any?? LOL!!

The shilldom for Nvidia products continues unabashed.

Right, right, right... makes sense, like they did here:

and especially here:

It's also no coincidence you speak highly of AMD and dislike when something positive is said of Nvidia. It's all over your comment history. Right, right, right... makes sense.

I'm glad you clarified that RR does both Upscaling and denoising. There's people that think RR only does denoising and will use a separate model like K, M or L for the upscaling.

It's a major upgrade especially in motion. Everything just looks sharper.

Honestly, YouTube compression and static images get rid of a lot of detail and differences, but seen in person this is actually a pretty decent upgrade. Already tried it. I didn't like to choose between extra noisy but more detailed DLSS 4.5 and not noisy ray reconstruction. Now we can have both.

In motion is where it shines by far the most actually, for example boiling can't be spotted in stills.

Didn't people used to constantly shout that tech like DLSS needs to be seen in motion because while stills looked good, in motion it was some smeary ghosting mess?

We've come full circle.

BLA BLA BLA... Tim is recommending a 5070TI over a 9070XT... tell you everything... for him paying a 50% premium for DLSS is a no brainer.

We all know that the only time he is talking about AMD is simply to bury them while they are offering a GPU that perform the same for 50% less.

Steve and Tim stood out to Nvidia in the past by refusing to include Ray Tracing benchmarks in their average scoring and now they are doing exactly what Nvidia wanted to corner their competition in their Ray Tracing narrative.
So yeah, respect and credibility... gone like the wind.

RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT...

Those are from Tim?

Come on, he has to make a living too. Tech guys grab sponsors wherever they can and I'd do the same if I was in their shoes trying to make a living at this. Perhaps there is a slight bias, perhaps there is not - it's up to the reader to understand the context in terms of the author. If you don't like it, don't read it! At least TS is a FREE site! They could lock a lot of content behind a paywall and they don't. I appreciate that as a long term fan of the site!

Your complaint reminds of a lady on farcebook. She picked-up an item for free off my porch. Then had the gall to complain about the item the next day via messenger. LOLOLOLOL

Exactly, they used to be more honest about reviews until Nvidia tried to blacklist them from receiving cards, then Steve and Tim changed their content to put Nvidia in a more positive light.
Any criticism they happen to do is for the appearance of not being biased, same goes for many other tech influencers who will occasionally be objectively honest about Nvidia's anti-consumer and anti-competitive tactics.
I can't see any significant difference between images with reconstruction on vs. off, reviewers claiming there is some massive difference should just admit it's a paid ad. And when content is a paid ad it had better be free to access.
