The Best Graphics Cards 2019

AMD is really good from low to mid range, their GPUs tend to do better as the time goes on but they should be able to deliver that kind of performance at launch, this way they're missing out on potential sales. I never had a brand preference but I do like Nvidias control panel slightly more than AMDs one and that would sway me towards getting Nvidias GPU if the performance difference is negligible.

"In any case, $220 for the RX 580 is an amazing buy, especially considering the GTX 1060 6GB costs at least $30 more"
Honestly for all the "best buy GPU" articles, an over-saturated Pascal market means it's been obvious the 2nd hand market is where it's at for the past couple of months. I recently managed to snag a GTX 1060 6GB for just £111 ($142). Hardly used (non mining), rock solid stable, no errors, quiet fan, original box, etc. It simply ended with few watchers / bidders at a time when everyone was on their way to work / school during a working week day, and there was no last minute "outbid rush". I then sold the old 1050Ti it replaced for £118 minus approx 12% Ebay & Paypal fees = £104 cash back. Total upgrade cost for "$250" +60-70% performance boost = £7 ($9). Like many others who managed to snag a recent good deal on a used Pascal, I really don't feel I'm losing out much skipping buying a brand new card in 2018...

Honestly, I'm inclined to agree with you. Obviously, the 20-series cards offer superior performance, but you really can't go wrong with a discounted 1070/1080.

Gave up on games around the Return to Castle Wolfenstein era.
Now, other than photoshop, graphics "speed" isn't that big of a deal for me.

"$220 for the RX 580 is an amazing buy"
I'm still sticking with my GTX 970...
Lol. What a terrible/absolutely useless comparison.

That being said, a 970/390 to a 580 would be more of a side-grade and wouldn't make a whole lot of sense anyway unless your card dies on you.

My point is I have a 970 and people make recommendations of newer cards all the time. the 970 is powerful for the price you can get it at. My post was basically still no reason to upgrade even with "an amazing buy".

I get where you're coming from. I got a Vega 56 a few months ago for about $320 and that was a great buy/upgrade from my 390. If you're building a new system or upgrading from like a 550 then a 580 is indeed a fantastic buy for the performance.

Or better still, unless your current card goes kaput, just don't buy any of them, sit this generation out and teach Nvidia a lesson that just because you can charge obscene prices, doesn't mean you should.

I totally agree! I am sitting on GTX1080 + i75820K - so I'm carrying over on both CPU and GPU. Prices are a bit silly from where I sit as I can play most of last year's titles at 90 - 100 frames plus (sometimes 120) at ultra settings on my 1440 gsync.

Here is what you get to fork out for nvidia. They screw you one for their overpriced AIB and then they screw you a second time for their gsync monitor scammed!

The "amazing buy" doesn't apply if you already have an equivalently powered GPU... Or are not looking to upgrade at all... If say you had a 750ti or something similar, the RX 580 would be a worth while upgrade and still "an amazing buy" regardless.

The Geforce RTX 2080Ti is the best card on the entire market. That's not subjective...it's a Fact at present.

Whether or not you can afford it is subjective.

I bought mine and paid just $1000 plus tax.

The 1080Ti is second best, followed by the 2080, the 2070 and the 2060.

I'm disappointed the 2080 doesn't outperform the 1080Ti.

It's a shame that this late in the game the 1050Ti is still $200 because I have an older desktop I'd love to upgrade from its GTX745 and I don't wanna spend $200 on it ($150 is the point I'm willing to meet).

GTX 745 No new computer for a year or two and IT CAN RUN MINECRAFT.

I have a GTX 745. I bought a desktop 3 years ago (HP ENVY) and it had a Core i7 4790 and 745. You can run a hell of a lot of games comfortably on the 4790 with 745 (Even Crysis and Crysis 2 work).

Given how we got the Ti AND the Titan so fast, I am leery of investing in this generation of RTX cards--and would be even if the prices weren't absurd. I have a feeling they won't be around for long.

Open Question: DOS VESA Mode 103 and 'senior' Dell systems

It seems that the R series AMD cards will not run on many of the Dell machines which use legacy BIOS and DOS VESA Mode 103 to display BIOS.

Can this core incompatibility be better defined?

Noted comment in a forum post.... "It seems Dell cannot be bothered to fix the bios for these older systems and some 3rd party AMD card makers (including Sapphire) cannot be bothered to support legacy screen modes. Final result: people staying away from both Dell and those AMD card makers (including Sapphire)."

Love my 1080Ti .
