I have a new laptop which I was told would run the sims 2. However, whilst playing it crashes goes to a BSOD which says the problem is with nv4_disp.

I've updated the drivers and direct X. My system says it is up to date. It didn't help. Is my card T&L capable? Could it be that my processor isn't big enough?

Yes, the card is T&L Capable, and your processor is better than 50-60% of all of them (or more), and should be able to run any current game.
