This is to frustrating!!! USB HELP

I reformatted my HD, and at first my USB was working, then it quit. I have not a clue why it did this! I uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, then reinstalled them, and nothing works still. I checked the Device Manager, and there is no splats and all drivers are loaded and working properly. When I plug in my flash drive, the LED lights up at first for a second, then thats it. I open My Computer, and nothing is there. My external HD doesnt work, nor does my external sound card. But my external HD also has the LED on that light up at first too. I've about had it with this because I need my USB drive! I hope someone here has the solution to this issue, because I done tried everything I know.

What OS are yuo using? if ti is XP then you need at least SP1 for USB 2.0 support.

Also, did you reinstall your motherboard drivers?

I am using XP, I have SP2 installed, and I did uninstall and reinstall the board drivers again in hopes to fix it.
