This modified Lexus paints a unique portrait of its driver based on how it is driven

As the saying goes, the way you drive says a lot about who you are. That’s especially true for art collector Walter Vanhaerent as his new Lexus IS 300h hybrid has been modified to paint his portrait each time he drives based on how he drives.

A large LCD screen on the dash displays the artwork as it is being painted. Custom software is used to paint his portrait in the style of artist Sergio Abliac with influence on how he drives. For example, the portrait will feature more detail if Vanhaerent drives slowly and will lean towards the abstract side if he drives fast.

Even the colors used in the painting are left up to chance. Cooler colors are used when the electric drivetrain is powering the vehicle while warmer colors are only utilized when the car is running on gasoline.

Next step - Changing the paint color on the fly - Red = Aggressive, Blue = Average, Black = Old Lady Slow.

Then, we assign lanes by color and viola - smoother traffic! Cameras could ticket you for being in the wrong lane and such :)

Granted... self-driving cars will come first and solve this also, but color changing cars are more fun :)

Then comes a bug, you're pedal to the metal and your car color is black! Here comes the ticket...

Maybe I'll be the only one to say it, but this is really freaking stupid, it's a Lexus, they never go above the speed limit and never use turn signals, is this really going to make for any form of art? Put a technology like this on the LFA maybe? or a Ferrari, but not on a Lexus IS300.

Why would anyone want to see a picture of their face being drawn on their in-dash LCD over and over? The Ford Fusion Hybrid did it better with the leaves. This is art that has no place in a car. What a waste of time and money.
