Tidal, the streaming subscription-based music service owned by rapper Shawn "Jay Z" Carter, has parted ways with its chief financial officer and chief operating officer.

The company, which confirmed with The Verge that CFO Chris Hart and COO Nils Juell were fired, said that as Tidal has grown into a global operation serving 46 countries, they have moved their accounting and operations team to New York while the technology team and key support staff remain in Oslo (Norway).

Swedish news site Breakit was one of the first to report the news. In their report, they claim Hart was terminated as a result of a dispute about how Tidal shares its streaming data. The Verge initially reported that Tidal doesn't share its streaming data with ratings service Nielsen Music and as a result, many of their latest exclusive releases such as Kanye West's The Life of Pablo and Beyonce's new single Formation weren't charted on Billboard.

Tidal reached out to The Verge to clarify that it does share streaming data with Nielsen Music unless requested not to by an artist. I can't think of any good reason why an artist wouldn't want their data shared with Nielsen unless maybe an album or a track was a flop but I digress.

Last December, Tidal hired its third CEO in eight months. If nothing else, the firing of Hart and Juell gives chief Jeff Toig the opportunity to build his own team of executives.
